Este es otro grupo que tuvo todo para ser grande y no lo fue. Es el caso de los planetas alineandose brevemente, dejandonos ver en el horizonte una super formacion.XYZ era el nombre propuesto para un supergrupo que al final de cuentas no fue.
El nombre XYZ es tomado de eX-Yes--Zeppelin como el grupo consistió en el guitarrista de Zeppelin ex-conducido Jimmy Page, con ex-Yes miembros Chris Squire (bajo, voz, teclados) y Alan White (batería).Page considero que la banda necesitaba a un cantante fuerte y buscó al antiguo cantante de Zeppelín, Robert Plant - Plant realmente asistió un ensayo de XYZ en 1981, pero decidió no unirse el grupo, citando su aversión al Rock Progresivo

El sonido de la guitarra es inconfundiblemente Mr. Page con un sonido de epoca del soundtrack de Death Wish II, con un bajo que solo puede provenir de Mr. Squire y el complemento a la percusion marcando el tiempo con Mr. White.

Realmente no he encontrado mucha reseña sobre este disco en internet. Todo lo que figura en la red se limita a citar a los miembros de la banda. Y cuando se trata de eso, realmente sobra todo lo demás, porque ante vosotros tenéis nada más y nada menos que a Mr. Robert Plant, Mr. Jimmy Page y Mr. Jeff Beck. Y con eso está todo dicho.
El cantante de Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, formó la banda en 1981 para satisfacer su viejo anhelo de tener un grupo de rock con una notoria base de Rythm & Blues

Este disco es la banda sonora de la película del año 1973 titulada Lucifer Rising. La música fué compuesta por el guitarrista de la banda Led Zeppelin James Patrick Page, mejor conocido como: Jimmy Page.
Lucifer Rising se refiere al ángel caídode la mitología cristiana ortodoxa, en que la ira es la película restaurada a su estado Gnóstico como portadora de la luz ; una parte implícita de las enseñanzas de Crowley.

Roy Harper & Jimmy Page - Whatever Happened to Jugula? 1985



Durante 1984, Roy Harper estuvo escribiendo y grabando con Jimmy Page, tocando juntos en el Cambridge Folk Festival de ese año. Jimmy Page llevaba un tiempo decantándose por una música más folk. El resultado fue este excelente álbum de estudio, “Whatever happened to Jugula (Beggars Banquet), entrando el disco en el top-20 de discos más vendidos. La portada del álbum representa un desenrollado y gigante paquete naranja de Rizla (papel de tabaco).
Roy comentó: “El título de “Jugula” vino de jugar al Trivial Pursuit, para explicarle a cada uno como debía ir respondiendo las preguntas tan clara y francamente como fuera posible, yo dije: “Elige el jugula”. En un principio iba a titularse “Harper & Page”, pero era como vender el nombre de Jimmy, entonces pasó a ser “1214”, que es el año que la Carta Magna fue firmada, pero eso era un pelín esotérico. Así que un día estábamos charlando y “jugula” vino a mi cabeza, así que telefoneé a los que diseñaban el disco y dijeron que habían puesto “Whatever happened to…” y les dije que lo dejaran así y añadieran Jugula al final”
Jugula fue el quinto proyecto en el que Harper y Page trabajaron juntos, pero el primer disco hecho por ellos enteramente. Roy comentó también: “Pienso que el disco completo es bueno, con la excepción de “Advertisement”, que está quizá en el disco equivocado. Mis gustos sobre mi canción favorita de todas varían año a año”

Jimmy Page - Death Wish II (OST) 1982



Death Wish II is a soundtrack album by Jimmy Page, released by Swan Song Records on February 15, 1982 to accompany the film Death Wish II. Following the XYZ project, Page was asked by his Berkshire neighbour, movie director Michael Winner, to record a soundtrack for the film Death Wish II in late August 1981. Death Wish II starred Charles Bronson, and was set around Chicago, which inspired Page to write a blues flavour soundtrack. Page was given a deadline of a few weeks to write and record the album at his home studio The Sol, and travelled on location to Los Angeles with Winner for songwriting themes. The soundtrack features Dave Mattacks from Fairport Convention, former Pretty Things keyboards player Gordon Edwards, and veteran singer Chris Farlowe. Page uses a Roland guitar synthesizer on a number of tracks. Tracks from this album were later reused by Winner for Death Wish III. Page was later asked to compose the soundtrack for Scream for Help (1985), but suggested John Paul Jones to Winner instead.
