That’s perfectly exact and even more true with this sequel, that was this time recorded in the United-States, in 2013 for the Electric Punishment Tour introducing a brand new line-up of young musicians, celebrating 35 years of Heavy Metal…Here is the review for the terrific “Live You To Death II – American Punishment” !
The opening energetic breathtaking sequence of the first cuts is awesome and lethal, this is the same tracklist order, the same continuity of five songs that was devastating in their legendary album “Digital Dictator” in 1988 , and today in 2014, well it’s still awesome and overwhelming, those songs were/are blue prints for the Power Metal made in USA . The new updated line-up is impressive and the rhythm section is tightest as ever, the absolutely demented axe riffage are enhanced by incredible and ripping solos courtesy of the Thorpe/Capka duo, the Lead Vocals by newbie Nick Holleman are honoring the high pitched screaming tradition of Carl Albert (RIP), some of those classic songs were never played live before I believe (as the great “Towns On Fire”). After this nostalgic offering, this new highly dangerous incarnation of the band unleash two new cuts out of their last “Electric Punishment” both are perfectly executed, and revealing a bold determination and a strong focus: another proof that VICIOUS RUMORS isn’t living on its past glory, their spirit is intact, still merciless and ferocious. Then it’s the moment again for a time capsule ride with two titles out of their famous 1991’s “Welcome to the Ball” and followed by a fine trio , taken from their self titled album released in 1990, the gang vocals and harmonized parts choir are amazing, set in a precision barely heard in Metal recently (“Mastermind”), finally the great anthem “Soldier Of The Night” is closing the album with pride.
The sound is live, raw and powerful, real, their music is the quintessence of the American Power Metal sound… Still young, fresh and fantastic as it was in their heydays in the 80’s/90’s.
”Plug In And Hang On…Live in Tokyo” was good, “Live You To Death” was even better but this one, is very impressive and clearly it's their most accomplished Live testimony: Finally reaching at the level of the strong VICIOUS RUMORS's on stage performance .
