Apocalyptica - Wagner Reloaded (2013)
Apocalyptica is a Finnish metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The band is composed of classically trained
cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso (all
three of whom are graduates of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki) and
drummer Mikko Sirén. Originally a Metallica tribute band, their music
borrows elements from a wide variety of genres including classical
music, neoclassical metal,[citation needed] speed metal, alternative
metal, post-grunge, hard rock, progressive metal,[citation needed]
thrash metal and symphonic metal.They also incorporate some influences
from Middle Eastern music, world music and folk music. They have sold
over four million albums to date.

Description: In May 2013 the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer Richard Wagner. Apocalyptica, together with the German choreographer Gregor Zeyffertom
(Gregor Seyffert) created an extraordinary show in which one and a half
hours before the ten-thousandth of an audience gathered in the “Arena
Leipzig”, flashed the life and work of the great German composer.
In the grand
show was attended by Apocalyptica, Symphony Orchestra of the German MDR
radio and television services with conductor Christian Jarvi (Kristjan
Jarvi), the theater company “Titanick” and the ballet “Jugend Berlin”. Music for this pageant wrote Eicca Toppinen. The audience heard as a completely new songs and familiar things Apocalyptica. And of course, musical quotes from the great operas of Wagner harmoniously woven into the fabric of this contemporary.
