Queens Of The Stone Age - Over The Years And Through The Woods (2005)

Video: NTSC, MPEG-2 at 5 993 Kbps, 720 x 480 (1.333) at 29.970 fps | Audio: AC-3 6ch. at 448 Kbps, AC-3 2ch. at 192 Kbps
Genre: Rock | Label: Universal Music | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 21 Nov 2005 | Runtime: 181 min. | 7,44 GB (DVD9)

This album perfectly showcases the Queens monolithic rock in a "warts and all" style befitting of the band and representing their ferocious liveshow fully and accurately.
Even if you've never set eyes on him before, you can tell just by listening to this album that QOTSA's giant frontman Josh Homme is an imposing onstage presence as he rips through classics old and new - pausing just long enough to straighten his immaculate ginger quiff (or in one rather humourous case, to publicly humiliate an audience member for "throwing stuff" at him) before ripping into the next slab of rhythm and riffage.
As good as the live album is, the real gold here for QOTSA fans would have to be the DVD which includes 30 songs filmed at the same London shows the live audio disc is taken from (The audio disc features some tracks not included on the DVD so it works both ways). All the bands albums get a look in on the setlist as does Homme's side project "The Desert Sessions" on one song.
As if this isn't enough, there is also a treasure trove of extra footage spanning the bands career - From the early days playing to about ten people during the day at an outdoor festival (Homme aptly quips "I hate daytime rock"), through to rocking the main stage at the Sydney Big Day Out to tens of thousands.
The many different line-ups are documented in this archival footage too; with appearances from Homme's former right hand man Nick Oliveri, Mark Lanegan, Dave Grohl and even a guest appearance from ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons.
With over 3 hours of visuals as well as commentaries from the band and a surround sound mix - This is what fans have been waiting for years!
Refreshingly honest hard rock from a band that can bring out the bogan in even the "coolest" music listener.
