Chthonic - Ian-Bu (DVD)

Chthonic (sometimes typeset ChthoniC or ChThoniC) is a Taiwanese heavy metal
band, formed in 1995 in Taipei. They have been called "the Black Sabbath
of Asia." The group incorporates influences from traditional Taiwanese
music including the classical Chinese instrument erhu (the band often
calls it hiân-á in their native Taiwanese). The band's stated goal is to
use their music to bring ancient history and mythology into the modern
era via a pan-green focus, especially to build awareness of the myths of
Taiwan and tragic events in that country's history (for example, those
of the Seediq people).

Since 2011 their trademark erhu has been complemented with stringed
instruments including the koto and shamisen, as well as Tibetan Bells
and shakuhachi and pgaki flutes, the latter of which are traditionally
used by the aboriginal people of Taiwan. The band members are also
acclaimed artists and political activists who advocate independence for
Taiwan and self-determination for Tibetans and Uighurs. Singer Freddy
Lim served as Chairman of the Taiwan chapter of Amnesty International
from 2010 to 2014 and won the Legislature seat in the 5th Electoral
District of Taipei City. Since their formation, Chthonic has released
eight studio albums; the most recent acoustic album, Timeless Sentence
(失竊千年 ), was released in Asia in 2014 by Spinefarm Records. According to
an interview, the band indicated that this will be the band's last
acoustic album.
Here is the third DVD release from the band: Iàn-Bù

Disc#1 CHTHONIC + Chai Feng Traditional Orchestra + Taiwanese Opera Singer Tang Mei-yun

The DVD contains the full performance of CHTHONIC at Formoz Festival in
August in Taipei, Taiwan. At the music festival, CHTHONIC performed with
Chai Feng Traditional Orchestra, while the popular Taiwanese Opera
singer Tang Mei-yun also showed up and sang Defenders of Bú-tik Palace
with CHTHONIC. Specially designed by VJ Ellen, the background screen
showed images of history, war, and immortals related to CHTHONIC’s
music. Coincidentally, since the music festival was held close to an
airport, an airplane flew overhead when the screen shows fighter planes
flying towards the audience, triggering cheers from the excited crowd!
The DVD which lasts nearly an hour not only contains the full
performance, but also two behind-the-scene videos showing how CHTHONIC
members look in the back stage, and explain to fans about changes in
CHTHONIC’s facial makeups and outfits over the years.

DISC#2 Five Music Videos from Bú-tik + Behind the scene specials

Five music videos were made for the album Bú-tik, including Defenders of
Bú-tik Palace, Supreme Pain for the Tyrant, Sail into the Sunset’s
Fire, Set Fire to the Island, and Next Republic. The music videos are an
extraordinary blend of martial arts, combat fighting, dance, and drama.
CHTHONIC members wire fly around in the air, bath in the water amid
pouring rain at night, and travel through time to a party in the 1930s
to stop a military collaboration between Nazi Germany and the Chinese
Nationalist Party (KMT) regime. The production shows the creativeness of
heavy metal music videos, and three of the music videos were selected
to enter the Asian-American Film Festival. Behind the scene specials are
also included on the DVD, allowing fans to see the hard work of
CHTHONIC members in shooting of the videos, despite the risk of being
wounded. Also on the DVD is an exclusive interview of Doris and music
video director Chuang Chih-wen on ideas behind CHTHONIC music videos
over the years, as well as funny ideas for future videos.

It shouldn't make any difference but the rip have been made from the
Taiwanese version of the DVD. The english subtitles are available for
the bonus anyway, as well as for the speech parts during the concert.

Both DVDs are untouched DVD5, they've not been compressed at all.

ALL SONGS ARE PERFORMED IN TAIWANESE VERSION, NOT ENGLISH (so please don't complain about it ^^)
