In 2010, Rammstein made a triumphant return to the U.S. stage for the
first time in 10 years, to headline one sold-out concert at New York
City’s Madison Square Garden.
The venue’s more than 18,000 seats were snatched up for the special
appearance within 30 minutes of going on sale, heralding Rammstein’s
return with a frenzied fanfare on par with the German band’s elaborate
stage presentation.
On September 25, Island/UMe will release RAMMSTEIN IN AMERIKA in 2DVD
and 2Blu-ray packages, pairing the incendiary Madison Square Garden
concert, expertly filmed and recorded in 5.1 surround, with a
feature-length documentary film directed by Hannes Rossacher. A
20-minute film about the making of Rammstein’s sixth album, Liebe ist
für alle da, is also included.
Quote: Rammstein is a German industrial metal band from Berlin, formed in 1994.
The band consists of members Till Lindemann (lead vocals), Richard Z. Kruspe (lead guitar and backing vocals),
Paul H. Landers (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Oliver "Ollie" Riedel (bass guitar),
Christoph "Doom" Schneider (drums and electronic percussion) and Christian "Flake" Lorenz (keyboards).
They are widely accepted as part of the Neue Deutsche Härte scene, alongside bands such as Oomph!, Eisbrecher, and Die Krupps.
Their songs are usually in German, but they have also performed songs
entirely or partially in other languages such as English, Spanish,
French and Russian.
As of 2009, they have sold over 15 million records worldwide.
Since their formation in 1994, Rammstein has had no changes in their band line-up nor have any members left the band.
Rammstein takes their name indirectly from the German town of
Ramstein-Miesenbach, the site of the flight show disaster on 28 August
1988.
The band's signature song, "Rammstein", is a commemoration of the disaster.
In a short period before the band became well known, they performed
using the name "Rammstein-Flugschau" (literally meaning
"Rammstein-Flightshow".)

DISC 2: Documentary: “Rammstein in Amerika” / 122 min. // Director's Cut Hannes Rossacher’s major documentary “Rammstein in Amerika” is a great
journey. It begins in summer 1988 on the Ostseestrand in East Germany
and accompanies the band on their long, sometimes painful, but finally
successful conquest of the American continents up until 2001. It
continues with their farewell to the US after the events of September
11th and ends in front of thousands of cheering Americans in Madison
Square Garden.
For the documentary, Rammstein provided extensive, previously unreleased
footage and photos from the band archive. In numerous interviews from
various periods in the band’s history, the band members speak about
their experiences across the Atlantic.
Old and new friends and acquaintances, as well as many American
colleagues, pay tribute to the band and recount anecdotes. Chad Smith
(Red Hot Chili Peppers), Moby, CJ Ramone, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Iggy
Pop, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from KISS, Wes Borland (Limp
Bizkit), Marilyn Manson, Melissa Auf der Maur, Scott Ian (Anthrax),
Jonathan Davis and Munky Shaffer from Korn, Shawn Crahan (Slipknot),
actor Kiefer Sutherland (“24”) and many more.
Making-of the album “Liebe Ist Für Alle Da” / 21 min. In November 2008, Rammstein begin recording their sixth album “Liebe Ist
Für Alle Da” in Sonoma Mountain Studio in California. Paul Landers
documents the six-week studio production. He interviews his bandmates
and films during recordings and photo sessions, until he finally gets
told: “Oh Paul, that’s really getting on my nerves, just turn it off …”
