| Industrial thrash metal from Brazil, music DVD released in 2005. Nailbomb was an industrial / thrash metal band. The band formed as side project by Max Cavalera of Sepultura and Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel. Together they recorded one studio album on Roadrunner Records called Point Blank and played one live performance before disbanding. Nailbomb hosted other musicians to play guest spots, including D.H. Peligro (Dead Kennedys), Igor Cavalera (Sepultura), and Dino Cazares (former Fear Factory guitarist).
Nailbomb's second album, Proud to Commit Commercial Suicide, was a live recording capturing the band's appearance at the 1995 Dynamo Open Air Festival in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. This was also the performanced filmed for the Live at Dynamo DVD. Nailbomb At MySpace 2005 Live At Dynamo (DVD)

Label: Roadrunner Records When I heard about this DVD (which was only recently) I immediately rushe dout to buy it. Not many people know of Nailbomb, the screwed up brainchild of Max Cavalera (Sepultura) and Alex Newport (Fudge Tunnel) that spawned one incredible studio effort in 1994 and then disappeared. But due to popular demand, they did their first and only live show at Dynamo Open Air Festival in Holland 1995. This DVD encaptures that performance with all the ferocity and heaviness intact. Opening track 'Wasting Away' sounds just as good as it did on the band's '94 record "Point Blank", with crushing riffs, memorable vocal lines and Rhys Fulber doing a fantastic job keeping all the samples going throughout the song. And thoughout the entire show for that matter. Following through with sped up and monstrous renditions of 'Guerrillas', 'Blind and Lost', World of Sh*t' and the epic 'Cockroaches', the band never seems to let up for a second, pausing only to change guitars or talk to their techs. Almost all the songs are obviously taken from "Point Blank", with the exception of a vicious cover of Dead Kennedy's 'Police Truck' that'll rip you a new one as soon as Alex hits the first notes. The band's industrial punk-infused metal has the crowd jumping da f*ck up throught the entire performance and the sound quality is brillaint, although it does let up every so often. Usually side projects from great musicians are a complete bucket of crap, but Nailbomb quite possibly have the best album on the 90s and this DVD certainly shows good evidence of that. // 9
Content: Now comes the disappointment. Despite the near flawless live show, the DVD only has nothing. Yeah that's right, nothing. The title screen is composed of Play Concert and a song select option. That's it. This came as a big disappointment to me, as I would've thought they'd have at least had some interviews with Alex and Max on the subject of Nailbomb and this spectacular performance at Dynamo. But obviously not, so there you go. This is strictly a live show put to disc, and while the live show is worth the price it's somehwat disheartening to think that they could've included so much more. // 6
Production Quality: No fancy pants production here folks, this is raw live concert footage. No flashy lights, not crazy camera effects. Nope, this is how a real live DVD should look like! A lot of different angles, not much more. Some might not like the idea but I personally think it works incredibly well. // 10
Overall Impression: Despite the absence of any special features, the concert on this disc is one of the best I've seen in years. I'm so glad that this got released on DVD since the '95 live album "Proud To Commit Commercial Suicide" is long out of print, and it comes with the added bonus of actually seeing it for yourself. I wouldn't suggest this as your introduction to Nailbomb though, go and buy "Point Blank" before you buy this otherwise you won't really appreciate the music as much. But dear God everyone, this show is really impressive and I'd suggest it to anyone who is a fan of Nailbomb, Max Cavalera or Alex Newport. Listen to it loud and proud. // 9.
