Lizzy Borden es una banda norteamericana de heavy metal formada en Los Ángeles en 1983. Lizzy Borden es también el nombre de su vocalista líder.
Borden se especializó en el tipo de rock que por entonces interpretaban bandas como Alice Cooper y Kiss. El nombre de la banda fue tomado de Lizzie Borden, una mujer acusada de asesinato en el siglo XIX.

La banda tomó como influencias musicales a Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden y Judas Priest, pese a que era considerada una agrupación de Hair Metal/Glam Metal.

El guitarrista Joe Holmes también tocó con David Lee Roth y Ozzy Osbourne, y el bajista Marten Andersson ha participado en las bandas Lynch Mob y Legacy.

La banda gozó de popularidad a mediados de los ochenta, a pesar de las constantes salidas de sus músicos. Muchos miembros de Lizzy Borden, incluyendo a Lizzy y al baterista Joey Scott, formaron un proyecto en paralelo llamado Starwood en el 2004, que representa un abandono al característico sonido metal de Borden.

Buena discografia, a mi particularmente me gusta a partir del 1987 e incluso los ultimos discos son buenismos, Heavy Metal cañero de la vieja escuela con algun toque actual. Lo que no conocia era el proyecto Starwood del 2004. Tendremos que investigar a ver como suena.

Solid rock and roll is what I found on this release pure and simple. I think it is great to find this to be the case every once in a while and seeing how rock and metal have so much against them these days it’s good to see a record like this come around. Oddly enough this one seems to be fronted by a member of a once very popular heavy metal act though none of the press releases seem to bring it up. The lead singer is named Lizzy and as I listened to him sing, I said “hey that’s Lizzy Borden!!.”. This was a band that had more of a cult following than legions and I liked several of their releases especially “Master Of Disguise”. With this new release, Lizzie is clearly taking a very different approach and while that can be risky to some I admit the end result is quite good. Instead of metal, this piece is more along the lines of the straight ahead rock and roll normally given to you by Hanoi Rocks or old L.A. Guns. It is quite the turn for someone who was so entrenched in the metal style.

Joining Lizzy on the release is Marten Andersson, Joey Scott and Joe Steals (Marten and Joey also are from Lizzy Borden). More than the change in format, one can simply view that Lizzie Borden ceased to exist as a band and Starwood was born at the same time.

There are a bunch of catchy numbers on the CD such as “Subculture” and “All My Girlfriends Have Boyfriends” (an anthem for all the fellows who have the ton of gal pals but no significant other). The tune “Social Zero” had some moments where I felt I was listening to the “Major Tom” song by Peter Schilling from the early 80’s. It was the effect used on the voice, as that’s all the song has in similarity. “You’re So Real” and “Bad Machine” round out my favorite tunes on this debut release.

This is clearly a high recommend from me, and if you are someone who enjoys the basic rock and roll feel as well as some ass kicking riffs you will dig this. It’s a lot of fun, and so many of the tunes are quickly able to be sung along to. That does not happen a lot so it cant be a bad thing. Let’s see if Lizzy made the right move by moving to a different genre of music. So far so good I am finding.

Con mi ingles tan bueno y con una gran ayuda del traductor, pue en definitiva, parece esto un proyecto enfocado al Hard Rock clásico. Tendremos que buscarlo para esuchar a Lizzy Borden haber como canta en éste estilo de música.

Bueno, se hace un poco extraño escuchar la voz de Lizzy con un estilo Hard Rockero. Simplemente curioso, supongo que los fans de Lizzy Borden les gustara. Yo me quedo con el autentico sonido de Heavy Metal de Lizzy Borden.

Yo nunca he dicho que no me guste el Heavy Metal, pero el de antes, lo que se hace ahora, pues para los chavales, porque yo no estoy para escuchar tantas bandas que se repiten todas. Ya lo comente en un post, si escuchas Helloween con los 2 keepers, ya has escuchado todo el heavy bueno, que vino despues en alemania, porque todos eran copias.
Por cierto "Me Againts The World" de Lizzy Borden me parece unos de los mejores temas que se han hecho dentro del Heavy Metal,todavia cuando lo escucho se me ponen los pelos de p.... biggrin

Lizzy Borden is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983.
Lizzy Borden is also the name of the band's lead vocalist.

Lizzy Borden specializes in the shock rock style originated by artists
such as Alice Cooper and Kiss. The band is named after the notorious
Lizzie Borden, a woman accused and acquitted of murder in the late 19th
century.
Though the band was considered a part of the Los Angeles "glam metal"
scene in the mid-1980s, they were musically influenced by bands such as
Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Kiss. Their
lyrical themes are more representative of this style, especially on
earlier recordings.
The band was featured prominently in the rockumentary The Decline of
Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years. One-time Lizzy Borden
guitarist Joe Holmes also played with David Lee Roth and Ozzy Osbourne,
former bassist Michael Davis joined Halford in 2003, and current
Swedish-born bassist Marten Andersson has also toured and recorded with
Lynch Mob and Legacy.
On May 17, 2004, guitarist Alex Nelson was killed in a head-on car collision. Lizzy Borden disbanded soon after.
In 2006, Lizzy Borden regrouped with new guitarist Ira Black and on
November 1, 2007, the album Appointment with Death was released
worldwide. The album also features guest appearances by George Lynch
(Dokken, Lynch Mob), Dave Meniketti (Y&T), and Corey Beaulieu
(Trivium), among others. The first video for "Tomorrow Never Comes" was
nominated for video of the year and was in the Top 25 Metal Videos of
2008 on MTV's Headbangers Ball. The follow-up video for "Under Your
Skin" premiered in April the same year.
In early 2008 the band announced various festival appearances including
Sweden Rock Festival (Sweden), Kobetasonik festival (Spain) and Bang
Your Head Festival (Germany). In November 2008 Lizzy Borden toured the
United States with Finnish Monster Rockers Lordi. The band toured Europe
as part of their headlining tour, performing in 11 countries. Lizzy
Borden was the first-day headliner of the two-day Keep It True XII
festival at Tauberfrankenhalle in Lauda-Königshofen Germany 2009. North
American festival appearances included Rocklahoma and Rock Gone Wild.
On Jan 24, 2009, former guitarist Corey James died in a car accident.[1]
In 2010 Lizzy Borden toured North America and Europe, including festival
appearances at Wacken Open Air 2010, Alcatraz Metal Festival, Leyendas
del Rock festival (cancelled) and Elsrock Festival.
In 2011 Lizzy Borden launched the "Summer of Blood" tour in North
American Followed by the European version, entitled "Death Takes a
Holiday Tour", festival appearances in 2011 included Heaven and Hell
Metal Fest, Christmas Metal Festival and the Hard Rock Hell Festival.
On Dec 17, 2011, drummer and founding member Joey Scott married German tour manager and dancer Steffi in Las Vegas, NV.
In 2012, Lizzy Borden performed on various Open Air Festivals in Mexico
and Europe. Festivals included Hellfest Open Air Festival in Clisson
France and Gods of Metal in Milan Italy. Both festivals were with Ozzy,
Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses and more. They returned to Europe in July
2012 to play Zwarte Cross festival in Holland, Headbangers Open Air in
Germany and Bulgaria the first time in their career at the Kavarna Rock
Festival.

metal" show created from the ground up at the 70000 Tons of Metal,
followed by a string of North American shows and European Festivals,
including the Swedish Festival Skogsrojet.
