Dying Fetus es una banda de Death Metal Técnico formada en 1991 Annapolis, Maryland, Estados Unidos. A partir del 2008, está formada por John Gallagher (guitarrista y vocalista, único miembro original fundador de la banda), Sean Beasley (bajista y vocalista), y Trey Williams (Batería).

La banda es conocida especialmente por ser una de las pocas bandas de death metal que siguen una temática política, aunque las letras de las primeras canciones eran más bien de tema sangriento muy gráfico.

La música de Dying Fetus es un metal híbrido de brutal death metal y ritmos grindcore, pero con el último cambio de alineación se trasladó a un sonido de puro death metal. Las voces van principalmente acompañados de gruñidos ásperos, pero también incluyen gritos desgarrados más altos, como suele hacerse en el death metal. La temática de los primero álbumes era la clásica del death metal, pero en los últimos discos las letras están centradas en la política, bastante izquierdistas. Consisten principalmente en críticas agresivas, dirigiéndose habitualmente a temas como la religión, las corporaciones, el consumismo o la guerra.

Dying Fetus is an American death metal band originally from Upper Marlboro,
Maryland. Formed in 1991, the group is known for their consistently
hook-laden song structures, characterized by blast beats, complex
riffing, slam riffs and heavy breakdowns. Additionally, their
reality-based lyrics characterized by political/modern themes are
notable in death metal. Various line-up changes throughout the years
have left John Gallagher the remaining original member, as well as the
band's driving force. According to Gallagher, the band name was chosen
while the members were of adolescent ages and was intended to be
offensive.
