Japanese edition this live album of G N'Rrecorded from different performances, although most of them are supposed to belong to Use Your Illusion tour.
From RateYourMusic: When looking at the tracklist one could easily guess that Axl's favorites are indeed the stars of this 2 disc set, and you would be right.
Sadly, the majority of the performances come from the Illusion Tour concerts.
For a GN'R fan like me that's not good news, since it's the pre-Illusion punk inspired in-concert GN'R work what made this band what it is, to begin with.
It's hard not to miss Slash's drunken solos and leads, Steven's amateurish but powerful drumming and the guitar-focused recordings of their earlier years.
What you have here is a bunch of calculated, studio manipulated renditions that are excellent by themselves, but, come on, you have heard many of these versions before, either in the official videos or in the most reknowned bootlegs.
What's worse, the absence of many in-concert classics like Civil War, Double Talkin' Jive and Perfect Crime is hard not to notice. Songs like Yesterdays, It's alright(wtf?) and Pretty Tied Up, though very good, are not worthy replacements.
That being said, the material is excellent. Nightrain is 10 times better than its studio counterpart, as is Mr. Brownstone(always a great #2 in the majority of their concerts) Dust N' Bones, You're Crazy, Used to Love Her, Knockin' on Heaven's Door and Move to the City. The rest are all very good to excellent. Slash performances on Rocket Queen, November Rain, Move to the City and Nightrain are sublime and the sound quality is EX+. A very good album, but I would suggest you to get the Japanese import version that comes with Coma as a killer bonus track.
