VICIOUS RUMORS - Cyberchrist Japan Edition (VICP-60373)

Japanese edition of Vicious Rumors seventh studio album.
From Metal-Archives: Ever since Carl Albert passed away, it seems as though Geoff Thorpe is reluctant to move on, to something different. I suppose I could hardly blame him since Vicious Rumors is basically his "baby". The last album to feature Mr. Albert was word of mouth, which was a great album with alot of memorable songs throughout. The next three featured a different vocalist on each one...and on Somethings' Burning...the predecessor to this album, even Geoff Thorpe took a noble shot at assuming vocal duties. Anyway...this is their best album! hands down...and Its also their heaviest, with a very downtuned guitar sound and dark atmospheric vibe of songs. This is the only album to feature Brian O'Connor on vocals and man can this fucker sing...strong, powerful pipes. He may not be Carl Albert...but then again, no one is! This is truly a landmark album for the band and I think that Geoff has written his heaviest most aggressive songs to date for this one...and the "riot" style of backing vocals is not something that you'd expect from VR. Just check out the chorus in No Appologies, you'll see what the fuck I mean. The main course for this album however, has got to be the title track, "Cyberchrist" is an exquisite work of excellence and everything about that song right down to the lyrics festers with genius. If you've never heard this band before...think somewhere along the lines of an old school sounding Iced Earth, with a little more melodic approach. Believe it or not these guys are actually from the Bay Area, and have recently recruited Ira Black from the famed "Heathen" into their ranks. Like I said before, this is their best album to date...but I know that Geoff has another masterpiece left in him that has yet to be released..
