Once upon a time, Seattle was once known for its long list of depressing grunge bands. It seems as of late the bands rockin’ in Seattle are back to playing kick ass rock and roll. Just check out the bands Underride and The Spittin’ Cobras. It is refreshing to hear bands from the Emerald City playing kick ass rock n’ roll again.
One listen to this band, and you might think, who the hell are these guys? This isn’t a pimple faced band starting out. The Spittin’ Cobras have members from the bands KMFDM, The Dwarves and Murdock. Needless to say, these guys have been in the music business for a while, and they know how to rock. Their music takes the energy of punk rock, the fury of Motorhead, and blends it to excellent blast of hard rock.
Year of the Cobra is the debut of these Seattle rockers, and a damn good one at that. One word best describes this CD, “relentless”. Every song on this album is heavy and fast with blazing guitars and pounding rhythms. I don’t know how a person can actually sit still and listen to this CD. It is a very energetic disc that with have you headbanging, and throwing your horns in no time.
This is one of those rare cases where every song on the album rocks, and rocks hard. Some of my favorites are “All the Way” “Throw Your Horns”, and “Built For Speed”, but I truly like every song on this disc.
