AOR - L.A. Temptation (2012)
At this time all of you have heard about AOR project masterminded by French musician and composer Frédéric Slama.
His latest album "L. A. Temptation" is another in the line of albums with 'L.A.' in its title, marking Slama's fascination with American West Coast AOR.
The new CD is once more created in an impressive manner with a bunch of outstanding guests as usual: vocals by Chris Ousey (Heartland), Göran Edman, James Christian (House of Lords), Paul Sabu, Jerry Hludzik (Dakota) to name some, and Tommy Denander conducting the instrumental contributions of Michael Landau, Bruce Gaitsch, Alessandro Del Vecchio, etc.
"L.A. Temptation" is the more Euro Melodic Rock recording of this project until now.
The AOR style is still here, but the main sound approach leans more into MR and modern production.
So if you're a bit bored or complaining that this project always sounds the same, you will be surprised by this new CD. Definitely with more bite and rocking moments. Production is much better than in previous efforts, specially the drums.
My favorites are the (believe it or not) only real ballad here; "Second Chance at Love" where Edman sings a sweet melody with soaring guitars in the background, and the uptempo "Silent Victory" as it's strange hear the raspy vocals of Paul Shortino singing this type of stuff, but he delivers a flawless performance.
Extremely polished and warmly produced, "L. A. Temptation" is another fine installment from these experienced and classy musicians.
