| INDICCO - Karmalion (2013)
INDICCO born in Spain around 2008 when singer Indigo Balboa and guitarist Paco Cerezo (ex- AORsters 91 Suite) started to work together on some songs. At the time Balboa had just returned from California where he was working on his second solo album with the help of legend Mark Spiro. The chemistry between Paco & Indigo went so good that they decided to ask Spiro to produce their debut, and the result after three years in the making is “Karmalion”.
The project started to grow steadily and Mark Spiro not only co-produce, sing lead vocals and play keyboards, he brought into the recording studio no-other than melodic rock superstars like Jimi Jamison and Tim Pierce. Jamison (ex- Survivor) is sharing lead vocals on three tracks, did backing vocals and co-wrote a song as well, while L.A. session Maestro Tim Pierce (Rick Springfield, John Waite, Eric Martin) stamp his unmistakable guitar tone on two cuts. We hear too great six-string master David Palau from melodic rock wonders Guru contributing additional guitar fills and solos. With a cover quite similar to Pride Of Lions' last album (Indicco designed the artwork first) “Karmalion” packs a lovable bunch of Melodic Rock tunes with a strong modern AOR feel and even some Adult Contemporary sounds, carefully crafted to the minimum detail. Tracks like the uptempo "Crying", "Feel So Good" (featuring Jamison on a meaty duet), "The Voice Of The Wind" or the dynamic "Feel No Shame" (one of my favs) are balanced by solid midtempos in "Days Of Wine And Roses", the melancholic Spiro-penned "All About You" and the modern "Moonlight". Among the softer tunes, my picks are the beautiful "Leaving Me" featuring a fantastic and subtle guitar work by Pierce, and the emotional "Ride The Wave" especially designed for Jimi Jamison's tenor vocals.
“Karmalion” is a pure Melodic Rock affair of international quality, combining fresh new ideas with the classic AOR trademarks of the bands that inspired Indicco's sound; Survivor, Giant, John Waite, Toto and Bad English. Get ready for the physical release next June 24, worth every penny. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
