1982 Pictures At Eleven * First studio album / * Release date: 28 June 1982 / * Label: Swan Song Records # UK: Silver / # US: Platinum / # CAN: Platinum UK Albums Chart • 2 / US Billboard 200 • 5 Pictures at Eleven is the debut solo album by former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, released in 1982. Genesis drummer Phil Collins played drums for six of the album's eight songs. Ex-Rainbow drummer Cozy Powell handled drums on "Slow Dancer" and "Like I've Never Been Gone". Pictures at Eleven is the only one of Plant's solo albums to appear on Led Zeppelin's record label Swan Song. By the time of Plant's next release, 1983's The Principle of Moments, Swan Song had ceased to function and Plant had started his own label titled Es Paranza, which would also be distributed by Atlantic Records. 1983 The Principle Of Moments * Second studio album / * Release date: 11 July 1983 / * Label: Es Paranza Records # UK: Gold / # US: Platinum UK Albums Chart • 7 / US Billboard 200 • 8 The Principle of Moments is the second solo album by former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant. It was Plant's second top 10 album in the United States and United Kingdom. It also gave him his first solo Top 40 hit with "Big Log". The most popular track on album-oriented rock radio in the US was "Other Arms", which reached number one on the Billboard Top Tracks chart. Genesis drummer Phil Collins played drums for six of the album's eight songs (as he did on Pictures at Eleven). On the other two tracks former Jethro Tull drummer Barriemore Barlow performed. Like Plant's first solo album, Pictures at Eleven, the songs departed from the hard rock of Led Zeppelin. Following the strength of these albums, Plant launched a successful tour in 1983. Phil Collins was the drummer for Plant's band on this tour. Collins was content to perform in the background, despite his own enormous success as a solo artist at the time. Little Feat's Richie Hayward played drums for the Australasian leg of the tour. Rhino Entertainment released a remastered edition of the album, with bonus tracks, on April 3, 2007. Personnel * Robert Plant - vocals / * Robbie Blunt - guitars / * Paul Martinez - bass * Jezz Woodroffe - keyboards / * Phil Collins - drums on 1-3, 5-6, 8 + all the bonus tracks on the 2007 reissue * Barriemore Barlow - drums on 4 & 7 / * John David - backing vocals / * Ray Martinez - backing vocals * Bob Mayo - guitars, keyboards, backing vocals on 9-11 (2007 reissue)

1984 The Honeydrippers: Volume One * With Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck / * Release date: 14 November 1984 / * Label: Es Paranza • Atlantic Records # US: Platinum / # Canada: 3x Platinum US Billboard 200 • 4 / Swedish Albums Chart • 44 / UK Albums Chart • 56 Canadian RPM Top 100 Chart • 1 / US Billboard Top R&B Albums • 67 / German Albums Chart • 40 The Honeydrippers: Volume One is an EP released on 24 September 1984, by a band led by rock singer Robert Plant. The project originated when Atlantic Records president Ahmet Ertegün wanted to record an album of his favorite songs from the 1950s. Plant was chosen because Ertegün had seen his pick-up band the Honeydrippers performing 1950s standards. Included in the band were Chic front man Nile Rodgers, and former Yardbirds guitarists Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page - the latter was Plant's former band mate in Led Zeppelin. To Plant's horror, "Sea of Love" became Plant's biggest-selling single. According to Plant, the original single was "Rockin' at Midnight," with "Sea of Love" as the "B" side. The single was eventually "flipped" because radio stations were playing "Sea of Love" far more than Rockin' at Midnight. Plant feared his career would be ruined by this, and that people would think of him now as a "crooner", instead of the rock and roll singer he'd always been. As a result, when he would be asked about The Honeydrippers in years to come, Plant would refer to The Honeydrippers as having been "put to sleep." "Rockin at Midnight" is a remake of a 1954 Elvis Sun single called "Good Rockin' Tonight". The album was re-released in a remastered edition in 2007 as part of a Robert Plant remaster series, with the live version of "Rockin' at Midnight" [previously released on the 12-inch single version of the studio recording] included as a bonus track. Plant and Ertegün discussed the possibility of doing another Honeydrippers album, but with the latter’s death in December 2006, the plan was shelved permanently. Personnel * Robert Plant - Vocals / * Jeff Beck - guitars ( "I Got a Woman," and "Rockin' at Midnight") * Jimmy Page - guitar solos ( "Sea of Love" and "I Get a Thrill" ) / * Wayne Pedziwiatr - bass * Nile Rodgers - guitar, co-producer / * Paul Shaffer - keyboards / * Dave Weckl - drums

1988 Now And Zen * Fourth studio album / * Release date: 29 February 1988 / * Label: Es Paranza Records # UK: Gold / # US: 3x Platinum Norwegian Albums Chart • 12 / UK Albums Chart • 10 / Swedish Albums Chart • 18 Canadian RPM Top 100 Chart • 4 / US Billboard The 200 Albums Chart • 6 Australian ARIA Top 50 Albums Chart • 27 / German Albums Chart • 48 Now and Zen is an album by the former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, released in 1988 (see 1988 in music) under the label Es Paranza. The album made the top 10 in both the U.S. and the UK, reaching #6 in the former, and #10 in the latter. With a new band and a new perspective on his music, Plant returned in late 1987 with more of the sound that had previously defined him in Led Zeppelin. Although Plant continued to utilise computerized audio technology in a similar fashion to his previous solo albums, for this album Plant integrated the blues that had all but been abandoned on his most recent album Shaken 'n' Stirred (1985). A prominent guitar sound and an exotic feel to the recordings also marked another change in direction for the artist, who now added Middle Eastern tones in songs like "Heaven Knows". This is a direction that he would eventually follow in the 1990s with Page and Plant. The tracks "Heaven Knows" and "Tall Cool One" featured Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. (On the liner notes, Page's participation on the songs was noted with a Zoso symbol.) In response to the Beastie Boys' unauthorised sampling of some Led Zeppelin songs on their 1986 album Licensed to Ill, Plant also used samples from Led Zeppelin songs ("Whole Lotta Love", "The Ocean", "Black Dog", and "Custard Pie") on "Tall Cool One", additionally singing words from "When the Levee Breaks". "Walking Towards Paradise" was originally a bonus track available only on CD versions of the album. Rhino Entertainment released a remastered edition of the album, with bonus tracks, on 3 April 2007. Plant performed "Ship of Fools", "Tall Cool One" and "Heaven Knows" at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary concert in 1988. "Ship of Fools" was also featured on the final two-hour episode of Miami Vice titled "Freefall". It is the musical accompaniment to Crockett and Tubbs return to Miami via motor yacht after rescuing General Bourbon (a thinly-veiled Manuel Noriega-type character) from the fictional Central American nation of Costa Morada. In an interview he gave to Uncut magazine in 2005, Plant commented that "by the time Now and Zen came out in '89, it looked like I was big again. It was a Top 10 album on both sides of the Atlantic. But if I listen to it now, I can hear that a lot of the songs got lost in the technology of the time." Personnel * Robert Plant - vocals, producer / * Phil Johnstone - keyboards, producer / * Tim Palmer - producer * Jimmy Page - guitar (on tracks 1 & 3) / * Doug Boyle - guitar / * Phil Scragg - bass * Chris Blackwell - drums, percussion / * David Barratt - programming, keyboards * Marie Pierre - vocals (background) / * Toni Halliday - vocals (background) / * Kirsty MacColl - vocals (background)

1993 Fate Of Nations * Sixth studio album / * Release date: 25 May 1993 / * Label: Es Paranza Records # UK: Silver / # US: Gold / # CAN: Gold Fate of Nations is Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant's sixth studio album. It was released in 1993 and re-released in a remastered edition on March 20, 2007. It features former Cutting Crew guitarist Kevin Scott MacMichael. The lead singer of Clannad, Máire Brennan is featured on the track "Come into my Life". The song "I Believe" is a tribute to his late son, Karac. Plant explained his album in the following terms: “From the very beginning of this project, around January 1991, right after the Manic Nirvana tour, I knew what I was going to do: go back into my past, listening to [Moby]Grape, the [Jefferson]Airplane, Tim Hardin, Quicksilver, Traffic, and other turning-point artists in rock. These people were trying to tell the listener something, joining various traditions, with the sense of a quest being insinuated and bandied in their acoustic and electronic themes. I'm also proud of what I've attempted to do lyrically [on the album], trying to tell vivid tales that come from a hearty tradition of prose.” The album was Plant's last completely solo album until his comeback with his seventh studio album Dreamland in 2002.
