Nico - An Underground Experience + Heroine



Christa Päffgen, más conocida como Nico (n. Colonia, Alemania, 16 de octubre de 1938 – Ibiza, España, 18 de julio de 1988), fue una cantautora, modelo y actriz alemana. Es conocida tanto por su colaboración con The Velvet Underground, como por su trabajo como solista.

Si bien es más conocida por su trabajo musical, también tenía un pequeño puñado de papeles en el cine, incluyendo una pequeña aparición en la aclamada película de Federico Fellini de 1960, La Dolce Vita. Fue amiga cercana y colaboradora artística de Andy Warhol, por lo que también actuó en varios papeles en sus películas de arte experimental, especialmente Chelsea Girls, lo cual la inspiró después a titular su álbum debut. Falleció el 18 de julio de 1988, como consecuencia de un accidente en bicicleta. Tenía parentesco con Hermann Päffgen, quien fundó la fábrica de cerveza Päffgen en 1883 en Colonia.

Experience and Heroine. DVD also c ontains extra features including a
complete discography of Nico and facilities to play individual tracks.
With her deep, velvety voice and exotically statuesque presence, German
model/ rock singer Nico became an icon of the 1960's. Part of Andy
Warhol's Factory crowd and a frequent singer for proto-punk New York
band The Velvet Underground, Nico followed a familiar pattern of the era
by being at once a gorgeous superstar and a degenerating heroine
junkie. This release features two live performance videos which star
Nico -- HEROINE and AN UNDERGROUND EXPERIENCE. The first contains an
emotional performance of acoustic songs at the Library Theatre in
Manchester; the latter is footage of a 1980's punk gig at an underground
venue. Shot in grainy video, the visual aesthetic enhances the rough
and raw attitude of Nico and the punk rock that she performs.
