Sodom es un grupo de thrash metal formado en la ciudad alemana de Gelsenkirchen, por Thomas Such (alias Angelripper), en bajo y voz, y Frank Testegen (alias Agressor) en guitarras. Influenciados por grupos de heavy metal, hard rock y punk rock como Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Venom, Accept, Tank, AC/DC, Discharge y Ramones, son considerados como una pieza fundamental dentro del thrash al igual que Kreator, Tankard y Destruction quienes en conjunto ayudaron enormemente a definir el sonido del metal extremo.
