Following a hugely successful UK tour in September 2008 and debut EP “Wasted Heart”, Duff McKagan’s Loaded are set to release the album, “ Sick”, in April 2009. The hard hitting Seattle four piece are fronted by the legendary Duff Mckagan (former Guns N Roses bassist and also currently playing with Velvet Revolver). The band lineup is completed by Jeff Rouse on Bass, Mike Squires on Guitar and Geoff Reading on Drums.
The material is strong from start to finish; there is not a weak song to be found. The title track and "Sleaze Factory" are great songs to rock out to, and "Mother’s Day" shows a more introspective side of the band. The album never runs short on ideas, nor does it repeat any of them. There are songs that rock, songs that are more laid-back and even some that are ballads; and every style is done superbly. "Sick" is a terrific album. I’m glad that Duff is sticking to a more blues-based hard rock direction and has left the post-grunge of Velvet Revolver behind him, at least for the time being. This album is essential for fans of older GUNS N’ ROSES material as well as fans of blues-rock in general.
