| The Peckham Cowboys – 10 Tales From The Gin Palace (2014) The band is completed by guitarist Timo Kaltio (Izzy Stradlin’, Cheap & Nasty), bassist Nigel Mogg (The Quireboys) Ryan McCormick on drums (Steven Adler Band) and on keyboards and horns Duncan McKay (Primal Scream) and they have a fuller sound than on debut album “Flog It!”.“10 Tales From The Gin Palace” is the second album from South London’s The Peckham Cowboys and as the title would suggest, the album contains 10 tracks of sleazy, debauched, catchy rock n roll and this is perfectly summed up by the track “Bromley Girls”. If you’ve never heard the band, opening track “Not Guilty!” is the perfect introduction- raw as The Quireboys, catchy as The Faces and with the flash bravado of The Rolling Stones, it sets “10 Tales From The Gin Palace” up nicely. Front man Marc Eden has a voice that is not a million miles away from that Quireboys sound and with guitarist Dale Hodgkinson they have created a bluesy, good time rock n roll album that will appeal to a large number of listeners.

London blues-rockers the Peckham Cowboys will release their second album, 10 Tales From The Gin Palace, via Cargo Records on February 14. Featuring musicians from bands as varied as the Quireboys, Primal Scream and the Ariel Bender Band, it follows their rough-and-ready 2011 debut Flog It! which drew acclaim from Rolling Stones producer Chris Kimsey. Frontman Marc Eden, who named the band, says their record sounds like “a fire alarm going off in the burning remnants of the music industry.” Song subjects include Eden’s crown court appearance last year (the details of which he’s keeping quiet), adventures with girls from the next neighbourhood, avoiding debt collectors and, of course, drinking. The Peckham Cowboys are planning an extensive tour to back the release of 10 Tales From The Gin Palace, but in the meantime you can see them at The Grapes, Stafford on December 13; The Latest, Brighton on December 17 and the White Lion, Streatham, London on December 20.
